About Dr Slater

Psychological distress can feel overwhelming and isolating, but it does not have to be faced alone. With over 27 years of clinical experience, Dr Slater provides thoughtful, evidence-based psychotherapy in a safe and confidential setting, helping individuals gain insight, restore balance, and navigate life's challenges with greater resilience.

Dr Slater brings extensive experience to her work with individuals facing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. She completed her doctoral studies in Psychology in 2020 and is a member of the Golden Key International Honours Society, recognising academic excellence.

Clinical psychology focuses on understanding how people think, feel, and behave, and on helping individuals navigate difficulties such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions and other psychological concerns. Dr Slater works with adults and adolescents across a broad range of clinical conditions and emotional difficulties.

As a clinical psychologist, Dr Slater assesses and treats mental health difficulties through psychotherapy and evidence-based psychological approaches. Psychologists do not prescribe medication, but instead focus on psychological treatment. Dr Slater integrates a range of therapeutic perspectives including psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), systemic and eco-systemic approaches, narrative therapy and client-centred perspectives, tailoring treatment to the needs of each individual.

My Approach

Psychotherapy is a collaborative and deeply personal process that takes place within a safe and confidential therapeutic relationship. Through conversation, reflection and psychological insight, patients are supported in gaining a deeper understanding of their emotions, patterns of thinking, relationships and life experiences.

Therapy can help alleviate emotional suffering, build resilience and support meaningful personal change. The aim of psychotherapy is not only to reduce distress, but also to help individuals live more fully, with greater insight, emotional wellbeing and a deeper sense of meaning.
